Xirin's free picture guide to Stonethwaite and the Langstrath valley and dedicated search engine for
walks, accommodation and everything
you need for an interesting break.
From the steep climb up to the lost world of Bessie Boot you can take your breath and look straight
down onto Stonethwaite. To the right of the village, the Langstrath Country Inn awaits your return
with good food and a foaming pint.
On a clear day you may also see a Tocano trainer or Hawk Jet swoop through the valley below you in a
surge of adrenalin.
Although by no means the highest point around, on the top of Bessie Boot there is a spectacular panorama from Scarfell Pike right round
to Helvellyn. Few people go there and you may well have it all to yourself even in high summer. Either continue round to Glaramara and
Allen Crags, or at the
Leaves of Tarn drop straight back down into Borrowdale or off other side into Langstrath itself.
The Langstrath County Inn is the white building to the right of the village. Stop for lunch, afternoon
tea, dinner or simply a well earned
pint, say hello to Gary and Donna.
