The Langstrath Hotel  is set at the far end of the Village.  An ideal spot from which to explore Borrowdale.  

Park you car and walk for a week if you dare.  Walk to;

  • Derwent Water and go into Keswick on the ferry and back by bus.
  • Over to Thirlmere and have a cream tea at Watendlath on the way back
  • Up Langstrath and on to Scarfell Pike, come back via Seathwaite
  • Bessie Boot, Glaramara and Allen Crags
  • Honister and Great Gable
  • Up round Johnny Wood to High Spy, Maiden Moor and Cat Bells
  • Or a gentle walk along the Allerdale Ramble to Grange taking in Castle Crag and back along the river

The options and variations are endless.  You can of course take your car and go further a field.

Whether you are a keen walker or keen on Cumbrian food there's nothing better than to arrive at the Langstrath for a warm welcome from Gary, a roaring fire and Donna's cooking.  Fresh cooked local food at its best, helped by good wine and good beer .

The menu varies daily, but our favourites are, wild boar and duckling pie, lamb Henry (half a  a shoulder), Cumberland sausage, Cumberland ham, local trout, local steak and many others,  the   daily menu always includes several vegetarian options.
